Abstract

Spontaneous pollution of large areas with a variety of solid and liquid waste has reached alarming proportions in our country. In this regard, it is necessary in the near future to create a special technology for the mass cleaning of land resources from unauthorized dumps of various garbage. The generated and accumulated solid industrial wastes are a source of the most valuable secondary material resources (SMR: ferrous, non-ferrous, rare, scattered metals and their compounds). Technological recommendations for the most rational use of waste are developed based on their chemical composition.

This paper presents the results of studies on the extraction of zinc oxide from zinc-containing waste and its further use as a secondary resource for obtaining a filler pigment in the manufacture of oil paints (zinc white). Rational conditions for the extraction of ZnO (pH of the medium for the extraction of Zn(OH)2 hydroxide, temperature and time of its firing) have been established; a schematic diagram for the manufacture of pigment-filler have been developed.
